Many LGBTQI individuals continue to suffer through difficult situations, lacking the access to sufficient, beneficial resources.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic has ravaged every society throughout the world, there is no hiding from the effects of the pandemic. The effects were not directly from the disease itself but rather the consequences that entail from it. From March 2020 until present, many countries still impose mandatory lockdown. Even now, although some precautions are beginning to be removed around the world, individuals are still experiencing the effects of COVID-19. These effects are felt by every person in society, but some may have felt it more, especially the LGBTQI community; members of this community often have less social security nets than other members of society.
APCOM commits to helping the community survive COVID-19 and it has done so by setting up emergency funding for the LGBTQI community. The campaign was first funded by APCOM staff members who donated their salaries to kick off the fund, followed by generous outside donors joining in the campaign.
APCOM has created the campaign “THB19 fighting Covid-19” (19 บาท ต้าน โควิด-19) and has promoted it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media platforms through partners such as Voice TV, the NOK, the TestBKK page, Facebook page, along with LGBTQI influencers to share on their respective social media platforms. APCOM has used these funds to give to community-based organizations throughout Asia so that they can help distribute these funds to those in need.
In Thailand, the organizations that that have benefit from the funding are
